Even though it's March, it's still officially winter until March 20th. We know, we know. It's a bummer. To help ease your spring fever, we've got our latest round of internviews. Get to know our winter intern, Stella, below!
Stella Khaimova, Junior Analyst
1) What's on your senior year bucket list?
Probably to travel and take in as much nature as I can before anxiously walking across the stage. This summer I have plans on going to Disney for the first time, traveling back to Israel, kayaking down the Skokie Lagoons into the Chicago River, and going to Florida with two friends. It feels like a lot but I want to get as much done before graduation in December.
2) What's your favorite internship task so far? What's something you're excited to learn more about in digital marketing/design?
My favorite tasks include meta data optimizations, blog topic brainstorming, and keyword research - all in that order. When doing meta data optimizations, I find the perfect mix of keywords and creative copy so interesting.
Meanwhile, blog topic brainstorming is so fun because it allows you to go down a rabbit hole when mixing together trending but unique topics perfect for the client. It's also amazing to see something I worked on getting sent out to our client the same day.
On a side note, I really enjoyed the time Ajay took out of his schedule to have a one-on-one lunch with me. It really showed that all the core values of PSM are true to our culture.
3) What's your favorite website or app? What's one thing you'd do to improve it?
One of my favorite apps would have to be Daywise, although I think it's only available on Android. Apple: 0, Android: 1.
The app lets you batch notifications based on the schedule you specify, I set them for 9 AM, 12 PM, and 5 PM. They also allow you to set VIP apps and contacts to bypass the batching. I VIP'd my mom so she doesn't think I'm dead when I don't reply for 3 hours.
The app also helps you improve your phone habits by telling you how much time you spend on and off your phone and which apps I use the most. It has really helped with productivity and anxiety because I'm not constantly disturbed by notifications.
One improvement that they need is to allow time restrictions to be set for certain apps, especially social media. My phone lets me do it from the settings but it would be so convenient to do it directly from Daywise instead of having to individually go through each app.
4) If you had unlimited resources, what would be your dream spring break trip?
A 6-month trip across Southeast Asia, no question about it. I love living in Chicago but a dream would be to adventure through the forests, explore cities and little rural towns, spiritually grow, and, of course, the food!
My ideal itinerary would include seeing the beautiful temples, sanctuaries, Island of the Gods in Bali, Vietnam for the food and culture, Singapore for the nightlife, and Thailand to visit the Temple in Chiang Rai.
